Lumberjack Academy
The Lumberjack Academy program area is designed to help get older Scouts back to Camp and kick-started on finishing up those Eagle-required Merit Badges. It also will motivate and assist them in the continuation of their badges when they return home from Camp.
To take these badges at Wente Scout Reservation, a Scout must be at least 14 years old and Star rank. This policy has been set by the GGAC Advancement Committee.
Finbar O’Riley’s Discovery Trail—Where camp history goes beyond Scouting back to when the Finney Valley was a thriving logging camp. This hike is great for a patrol outing stopping at different points around the lake then heading up the old logging road to the discovery site of Finbar O’Riley’s Axe. See your Commissioner to get your map!
Adult Dutch Oven Cook-off—You can start your coals whenever you like…but your entry should be brought down to the Admin Office for judging during Tuesday evening program! Entries can be in one or both categories: Sweet or Savory! Leaders may NOT accept help (prep, cook OR clean-up) from the Youth! Winners in each category will be announced at the Scoutmaster Dinner on Thursday! Wente has Dutch Ovens but Adults must bring all of their own ingredients…just be careful not to give away that secret recipe!
